JL Picard, XMen, and now TMNT

On the "ever popular" (I'm not sure I've been there before, but I know I'm going back!) PatrickStewart.org, they are reporting that "Sir Patrick" himself will be the voice role of Max Winters in Kevin Munroe's CG animated TMNT.

The movie's plot is described there, as follows:
In this film, after the defeat of their old arch nemesis, The Shredder, the Turtles have grown apart as a family. Struggling to keep them together, their sensei, Master Splinter, becomes worried when strange things begin to happen in New York City. Tech-industrialist Max Winters goes mad after he was wrongfully fired and begins amassing an army of ancient monsters. Realizing his plan is succeeding, he is no longer satisfied with vengeance against his ex-employer, but now has thirst for World Domination.

TMNT is expected to be gracing our theaters on March 30. I'll bet if you have kids, or you're old like me, you can't wait to see what they've done with this classic cartoon, movie, and video game!

Metalosis Maligna: A Documentary

Metalosis Maligna is a fictitious documentary, by Floris Kaayk. It's a story about an amazingly "disabling disease which affects patients who have been fittedwith medical implants. Sourcing from such implants a wild metal growth ultimately transforms human patients into mechanical looking constructions."

Whoa! Did anyone see that coming? Is the Matrix really so far away? I think you should decide.

Watch the video.

This stuff is just so cool when you're a geek, isn't it?

Underworld: The Evolution Revolution

Well, OK, that's not exactly the title of the movie, but... around this time of year, it's always good to talk about movies, right? Especially ones about Vampires and Werewolves. The folklore is just awesome, I think.

Anyway, the great news is that Yahoo movies has the trailer for the new UNDERWORLD: EVOLUTION movie available. Apparently, according to the wonderful folks at Digital Theatre, it's a good idea to pull up a nice comfy sofa, get a bottle of something to drink, and a big ol' tub of popcorn, 'cause the trailer is most of the actual movie! Yeehaw!

The movie, due out January 20th, is directed by Len Wiseman - who was responsible for the same job in the first one. Actors Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman star in the sequel to the 2003 flick.

Oh SITH!

I'll keep this short:

The Revenge of the Sith premieres tonight at midnight. I would love to go, but why bother when the crowds must be just nuts! I figure, if all of the theaters just stop running every other film, and run only RotS on ALL screens, then the crazies will have seen it at least twice in a week, and then I can go see it and not have to be in a packed theater and wait 45 minutes just to get a bucket of popcorn.

Fearful of Anakin's turn to the Dark Side, Obi-Wan confronts his former student, trying to dissuade him from joining ranks with the Sith. Obi-Wan and Anakin face each other in a duel -- leaving Anakin wounded and presumed dead. Palpatine seizes the opportunity and takes the injured Jedi under his wing. Using technology to heal Anakin, Palpatine creates a new and powerful Sith warrior -- Darth Vader. With Vader at his side, Palpatine lays waste to the Jedis and Dooku's army and creates the new Empire. Now, Obi-Wan and the last remaining Jedis must rally to save Princess Padme and the twins (who have been separated to be raised unaware of each other's existence) in hopes that someday the next generation will lead a revolution to unseat Darth Vader and Emperor Palpatine.

The Battlestar Galactica Blog

Seems like everyone and every "thing" has a blog these days. So, why shouldn't a mini-series turned series have one, too? Well, I can't think of a good reason why they shouldn't and quite frankly, it's a great idea. If you think about it, what better - more timely - way for fans to communicate with people involved with the series, and why shouldn't they be able to communicate back?

The series, with a US debut tonight on SciFi network, moves up another rung on the coolness scale for taking the step towards actual technology of today! Ron Moore, Head-writer and Exec Producer for the series is intimately involved in posting to the blog. His first entry tackles some fans' burning question as to "why Cylons appear every 33 minutes." Apparently, they previously had a lower percentage of screen time, (34 or 48 minutes) in the premiere. His answer: "No explanation, not even the attempt." With Cylons looking the way they do this time around, who wouldn't want to see more of them? I'm thinking "Number Six" is definitely a draw, just maybe a little...

A reader at BoingBoing said: "Viewers in the UK have already seen half of this series on Sky One."

War of the Worlds Trailer

It's official! The War of the Worlds trailer is now available online! So, go check it out here on these film sites: IFILM, and Apple.

The Blog-Goddess herself, Xeni Jardin (Obsessed? Me? No!), had this to blog, today: (
Boing Boing: War of the Worlds trailer now online)

"War of the Worlds trailer now online
Trailer's out for the forthcoming Spielberg film starring Tom Cruise, War of the Worlds. The movie is based loosely on H.G. Wells' classic novel (and the 1953 film) in which giant Martian spaceships menace earth. trailer sites: IFILM, Apple (Thanks, David B.)

Thank Xeni! I loved War of the Worlds as a kid and can't wait to see what Spielberg does with it... and Tom Cruise. I'm a bit confused about casting him in this movie, but... we'll see. I guess he did well in Minority Report, right?

In other cool movie news, one of my all-time childhood favorites is coming out, and being redone by that weirdo-genius Tim Burton; Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
