The Tablet PC "Pocket" Edition

While reading through my friend Jame's blog, I noticed something that struck me funny. He was talking about how the long-time mini-Tablet advocate Mickey Segal had posted a couple of pictures of the LS800 fitting in a pocket. Segal had a special pocket made, inside a sports coat, just so he could prove that it would fit; for those "Doubting Thomas" doctors and business people alike.

The pocket is huge! James said that "Doctors have been saying for a while that if they could get a Tablet PC that would fit in their white coat pocket they would grab one."

Well, my personal opinion of THAT "pocket edition" is that the only doctors getting benefit out of it are going to be chiropractors!

Get a 'Glove for your phone

While sitting, bored at the airport, I decided I needed to upgrade my phone stuff. First of all, my phone holster was falling apart, so I decided to upgrade that to one that wouldn't let me phone fall out of it. I have a LG VX6100 series phone, so I was in search of something that would fit it nicely. I found a BodyGlove case which is really well designed.

The case has a very nice belt clip with a tight fit and a nice ratcheting adjustment to it so that the phone can be placed horizontally on your waist, without it flipping back down - like my previous one used to. It also holds tightly closed - unlike my previous leather one - so that my flip doesn't just fly open while I'm walking or if I brush it with my arm or some other object. It's made of the same material used to make SCUBA suits (neoprene), so it's tough and it even feels neat!

I would suggest this type of case for anyone looking for a new one. It's well made, it's snug and is easy to use.

Opus 5 Watch - Cooler than you are!

This has to be one of the coolest watches I've ever seen. To explain it, the hour hands rotate while each block rotates, and as it reaches the minute indicator it is the correct numeral that is shown. Note that the minute arrow is not connected to the hour cube and once the arrow gets to 60 it will drop down to 0 to meet the next rotating hour block. Whoa!

Max Busser and Felix Baumgartner collaborated to create the Opus 5, a completely innovative watch that makes use of what’s known as a “satellite hour” display. The style is absolutely beautiful, and the movement is completely innovative.

To make the deal a litle sweeter, It includes a 5-year service indicator, to tell you when to bring it back for basic maintenance. It is a completely "Limited Edition," with only 100 available (in platinum or pink gold, with or without diamonds), the price is $106,680 for the rose gold and $137,000 for the platinum models.

Seiko e-Ink Watch

Seiko was showing off this gorgeous prototype watch at ‘BASELWORLD,’ a watch and jewelry show in Switzerland.

This cool jewlery for the wrist uses technology from e-Ink to display a “constantly-altering mosaic pattern,” along with the time display. Something similar could be done with LCDs, of course, but perhaps not with such a gradual curve. This is a little old, but (the story is from the of April1st) I still think it is one of the coolest looking watches I've seen in a while.

Bling-Bling Belt Buckle

Show me your bling and let me shine you! At least, that's what the cool kids at IcedOutGear are saying, where they've created a new Bling-meets-Geek-Chic scrolling text belt buckle.

The Belt Buckles are capable of scrolling as many as 6 text messages with 256 characters per message. Imagine the possibilities. The text can scroll from left to right, or up and down, and it can even blink. The LED bling-belts come in cool blue, hello-yellow and ruby-red (OK, so I made up those cool color names, but those ARE the colors). So, what does one pay for such shiny speaking fashion? The buckles start at $79.95 (red, w/o ice) and go up to $109.95 (blue, iced).

I had to take this directly from the originating article, because, well... I just couldn't say it any better: "Be one of the first people to floss this new LED Belt Buckle and Scroll on playa".
